Look for firm pumpkins that has a sturdy one to two inch stem attached. Avoid pumpkins with cracks, small holes, or blemishes.

Don't judge a pumpkin by its color. Many varieties come in varying shades and colors. 

Choose local pumpkins for long lasting produce that is as fresh as possible. 

When carrying pumpkin, don't lift it by the stem. Instead, wrap your arms around and lift from the bottom. This will help prevent damage.
