National Farmers Market Week is a great opportunity to show the nation how much value markets bring to their communities. With fun events, specials, contests and activities, the week helps to boost markets – while at the same time being loads of fun!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are supporting and promoting a more virtual celebration. Rather than hosting a large event at one of our state’s amazing farmers’ markets, we are encouraging market managers, vendors, staff, volunteers and customers to help show us how they are celebrating. Fortunately, farmers’ markets were declared an essential service, so you can still visit your local market and support family farmers!
This National Farmers Market Week, we want to emphasize the value of buying local, as small businesses face extreme challenges. Shopping at farmers’ markets means you’re investing your dollars in your communities! Along with shopping at our local markets, we invite you to follow us on social media as we share video clips from Minnesota’s agriculture champions. We will share more videos throughout the week, culminating in a photo showcase on Saturday, Aug. 8. Updates will be shared on the Facebook event.
