Fired up for local: Laune Bread

Have you ever tasted bread that tells a story? The loaves and pastries at Laune Bread in Minneapolis do just that, all while championing Minnesota Grown ingredients.

Chris MacLeod and Tiff Singh, the heart and soul behind Laune Bread, have a profound commitment to local farmers. Chris says, "Bakeries I worked at in the past never prioritized the main ingredient. It was anonymous, to the point where you might not even know what wheat looks like. We want to make breads and pastries that taste like wheat and other grains, and that are easier to digest and healthier for you."

Their journey started with a simple yet powerful idea: to prioritize local sourcing, starting with grains. This idea blossomed into a thriving bakery where nearly 99% of ingredients for their staple loaf are sourced within 200 miles.

Local sourcing isn’t just about geography; it’s about relationships and community. "We are all working to create a thriving local food movement with good food and healthy soil," Chris explains. By partnering with local farmers and millers, Laune Bread ensures that each ingredient has a story and a face behind it. This close connection to their suppliers means that every bite of their bread supports the local economy and honors the hard work of Minnesota farmers.
