It’s a glorious time for local fashion shows and events. Fashion Week MN wraps up Saturday, and another series of fashion and style events, Black Fashion Week MN, gets underway on Friday.

“The Twin Cities can expect to see new designers and creatives, new locations and lots of fun this season,” said BFWMN founder Natalie Morrow.

The series — featuring runway shows, mix and mingle events, the unveiling of the Minnesota Grown label using local farm-raised fibers and more — runs through Oct. 5. Events range from free to $50.

COCKTAILS & COUTURE 

Sept. 27: Farm fiber becomes wearable art when you align designers Tim+Thom, the Textile Center and Northstar Farm Tour. Check out the first couture garments eligible for a Minnesota Grown label, using more than 80 percent farm-raised natural fiber, donated by nine farms and designed by TIM+THOM during this unveiling and Black Fashion Week MN kickoff event. 6 p.m., Windswept Hill Farm & Studio, 20828 Ahern Boulevard, Farmington; free; tickets and rsvps through facebook.com/bfwmn

40 LUX 

Sept. 28: An evening of luxury and living well. Clothing designer Alexis Brazil features The Lexurie Collection in this show celebrating all shapes and sizes of indigenous and people of color older than 40. 6:30 p.m., MoZaic East, 2900 Fremont Ave. S., Minneapolis; tickets starting at $20

FULL FASHION PANIC 

Sept. 29: Mechademia is an academic conference dedicated to the understanding of manga and anime. The conference’s third day explores anime, manga, Asian pop culture and fashion while showcasing street fashion capsule collections of six designers: Jen Beaupré, Puvithel, Christopher Straub, Oceane Thea (Thea Couture), Amanda Peterson (Malachite) and Natalie Barclay (Designs by Natalie). 3 p.m., Minneapolis College of Art and Design, 2501 Stevens Ave., Minneapolis; Tickets $15 at mcad.edu/fashion-tickets

Oct. 3: Mix and mingle with fashion influencers. The event will include a panel discussion and a Q&A with Black Fashion Week MN organizers and industry professionals Natalie Morrow, Thom Navarro and Tim Navarro. 6:30 p.m., Moxy Minneapolis Downtown, 247 Chicago Ave. S., Minneapolis; tickets $10 

OPALESCENT 

Oct. 4: Take in the latest collections from Andre Williamson (Cold Climate Collection), Kendall Ray, Maya Haji (Luuli Collection) and Sydia Reeves (Diays Designs) in this fashion show. Catch the latest collections from local designers while taking in the mantra of the show: “Beauty never appears in, nor pertains to one single person.
