Lake Itasca Area Itinerary

THEME: Burn off some energy with the kiddos

ITASCA STATE PARK

Start your day off by hopping rock-to-rock across the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Legend has it those who do so will live a long and happy life. After you've marveled at the birthplace of the Mighty Mississippi, check out some of the park's additional points of interest:

  • Learn about Native American history in the area at the Bison Kill Site
  • Find some peace and quiet in the woods on one of the park's many hiking trails
  • Have lunch (and/or spend the night!) at the Historic Douglas Lodge

Itching for more? Explore Minnesota has additional ideas for Things to do in Itasca State Park.

LONE ROCK FARMS

Stock up on locally grown produce, peppers, and honey at the Lone Rock Farm Stand. Open weekends from 9am to 5pm with a wide selection of fresh picked produce. If you prefer to stop by on a weekday, please call ahead to see if arrangements can be made. Learn more about the farm and find their phone number and driving directions on the Lone Rock Farms Minnesota Grown Directory listing.
