Call the farm before you go. Bring sunscreen, water, and a hat to stay cool while picking. For sensitive hands, a light pair of gloves will help protect against prickly bushes.
Don't pick under ripe berries. Look for the deepest color and stick to those. Check between stems for hidden berries and hold on to the stems with one hand and pick with the other.
Don't overfill containers or pack berries down. Keep picked berries out of sunlight. Transfer to refrigeration as soon as possible. Don't wash until ready for use.
