National Farmers Market Week Kick Off

A week-long celebration of locally grown, fresh food begins Sunday, August 4 as National Farmers Market Week kicks off with a public event at the historic Saint Paul Farmers’ Market.

Governor Tim Walz and Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen will join partners from the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association and Minnesota Farmers Union at the downtown farmers market for fun and food, emceed by Olympic athlete and Minnesota Grown spokeswoman Carrie Tollefson.

National Farmers Market Week (August 4-10) is a yearly celebration sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture that highlights the important role farmers markets play in the nation’s food system and gives local markets the opportunity to showcase the meaningful impacts they make in their communities.

The event is free and open to the public, and will include games, contests, and activities for guests throughout the morning.
